This Practical Software Design-developed application is meant for anyone who wants to come up with film, TV, or stage scripts. Practical Scriptwriter is a powerful writing tool that has a lot to offer: US and UK screenplay formats are supported, easily reformat scripts, edit and arrange the script as you see fit, and more.

Practical Scriptwriter provides support for Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. To install the application on any of these Windows editions, you will have to go through a standard setup process. This means you will have to download an executable, a 3.6MB one, run it, then go through the simple instructions presented by a setup wizard. When you’re done with the installation and you run Practical Scriptwriter for the first time, you will be invited to load a sample file.

The application’s interface is made up of three panes. The pane to the left presents a list of options, settings and preferences you can access: Format Options, Scene Part Predictions, Editing Preferences, Find/Replace, Script Information, Author Details, Activate Software, Sample file, and Options. The pane in the middle presents the script you’re working on. The pane to the right features the following buttons: Help, Characters, Outline, Treatment, Statistics, and Hide.

As mentioned above, Practical Scriptwriter is a powerful yet user friendly tool for coming up with scripts. To get a better idea of what sort of functionality this application has to offer, here’s a quick look at its main features: provides support for US and UK screenplay formats; export scripts to PDF, RTF, or HTML; format scripts with no need for a word processor; instantly reformat scripts for any media; easily edit scripts and arrange things as you see fit.

The powerful functionality and the ease of use make Practical Scriptwriter a must have for anyone who has to work with scripts.

Pros

You will quickly get Practical Scriptwriter up and running on your Windows PC. The application’s interface is easy to figure out. Practical Scriptwriter has powerful functionality to offer. Except for the print and export functions which are disabled, the trial version is fully functional.

Cons
